Vegan Fascinator from Warrillow Studio

Last weekend, Matt and I attended the wedding of one of his school friends at a beautiful church in London. It was the first wedding I’ve been to as an adult and I was so excited about every aspect of it, including piecing together my outfit. I wore a beautiful dress from Ted Baker, paired with some simple M&S shoes and my favourite part of the outfit: an absolutely stunning custom made fascinator from Warrillow Studio.

Warrillow Studio is a completely vegan and cruelty-free millinery that produces handcrafted vegan hats, fascinators, and headpieces; and I am super excited to be able to tell you guys about my experience with them, as it makes me so happy to discover awesome, vegan brands and of course share the ones I love with you all.

A few months ago, the lovely Rachel from Warrillow Studio reached out offering to create a custom headpiece for me. As soon as I browsed her website, I knew I wanted to work together, as not only did her brand ethics resonate with me, but I also fell in love with the beautiful, unique pieces she creates and knew I would absolutely love to have one.

As I had the wedding coming up, I thought a fascinator would be perfect, so I sent Rachel a photo of my dress and listed a couple of my favourite pieces from her website (Sarah Jane and Megan), then she came up with this completely unique piece made just for me!

It was super exciting receiving a surprise creation (it kinda felt like Christmas) and I was so happy to open the incredibly beautiful packaging and find such a stunning piece inside!

The extremely talented Rachel captured my style so perfectly and I love that she created the piece using three complimentary colours, as it means I can pair it with a variety of dresses for future events.

I received so many lovely compliments at the wedding about the fascinator and I cannot wait to wear it to all of the weddings we have coming up next year!

If you’d like to buy one of Rachel’s pieces for yourself, head to warrillowstudio.com and browse the collection; alternatively, if you’d like a custom piece, I’m sure Rachel would love to hear from you so definitely get in touch via her website. I’d also love to see photos of any pieces you guys order so be sure to send me a picture.

If you’d like to see how I did my hair and makeup for the wedding and of course find out more about my beautiful Warrillow Fascinator, I filmed a Get Ready With Me For A Wedding video which you can watch on my youtube channel here:

Now, I’m just gonna leave you guys with this picture of Kitty photobombing my shot of the fascinator; she looks just as happy about it as I am!!

Temple of Hackney | Vegan Fried Chicken

After the ‘Tshirts and totes’ pop-up shop launch party at Friendship Vegan Shoes, Matt and I headed to Temple of Hackney to check out the their famous vegan fried chicken!

IMG_1805

The staff in the shop were so welcoming and friendly and there were so many dishes to choose from that we couldn’t decide what to order; so eventually, we decided to try out almost the entire menu and ordered: a burger, a sub, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, coleslaw and chips!

There’s a small seating area outside but as it was super cold out we decided to take away our huge, and I mean huge, vegan fried chicken feast and eat it in the car (after taking this cute insta-friendly picture)!

I was amazed at how chicken-like the dishes tasted, so if you liked the taste of fried chicken and want to try a cruelty-free version, then you would love Temple of Hackney! My favourite dishes were the mac n cheese and the coleslaw, whilst Matt loved the burger and fries!

I think it’s so cool that there is now an entirely vegan fast food place in Hackney, and I really hope they expand across London and beyond!

WHAT TO BUY YOUR VEGAN BOYFRIEND FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always find guys very hard to buy for meaning it can be really difficult to come up with a thoughtful and original gift for valentine’s day. So, following on from my What to buy your vegan girlfriend for Valentine’s Day post last week, I’ve created a guy version of this post for all of you who, like me, could do with some cool new ideas!

I’ve come up with some cute guy-specific gifts, as well as some similar ideas to those on the girl’s post as I’m pretty sure they’re things guys would love just as much as girls. I also asked Matt and my friend Tom for their input and all of their answers were food/alcohol based; so, if in doubt, buy all the vegan food and lager you can find ;)!

 CHOCOLATE & SWEETS

One of Matt’s favourite gifts I’ve ever got him was a box filled up with vegan crisps, popcorn, sweets and chocolate. Some of my favourite chocolates are: Choices Dairy Free Caramel ChocolatesVego BarsiChoc Bars and Booja-Booja truffles. There are also loads of great gelatine-free vegan sweets you can buy; my favourites are definitely the Biona Organic pomegranate hearts and cola bottles.

ACCESSORIES

If you wanna really spoil him, Will’s Vegan Shoes & Accessories Co. has an awesome range of high-quality vegan wallets, card holders and belts. Matt is absolutely obsessed with his Will’s card holder and belt and uses them all the time.

CLOTHING

If your partner is the kind of guy who likes to share his veganism with everyone, then a slogan vegan tee, jumper or hoodie would make a great gift. There’s a whole range of awesome vegan guys clothing out there to choose from; some of the most popular items with guys from my clothing line are the Fuelled By Veg t-shirts and the Vegan sweaters. You can check out my full mens range at: jadegreenvegan.com/mensunisex-tees/jadegreenvegan.com/unisex-jumpershoodies/.

THOUGHTFUL EXTRAS

This section is pretty much the same as for the girl version of this post as I’m pretty sure all vegan animal lovers would love one of these thoughtful gifts:

  • a donation to your partner’s favourite animal charity and a cute little printed card explaining what you’ve done
  • a pair of tickets to a vegan festival (you can find a comprehensive listing of festivals across the UK on the Vegfest website)

I hope this post gave you some great gift ideas to help you spoil your vegan partner on Valentine’s Day. And as always, I’d love to hear from you, so if you have any other ideas then I’d love to hear them in the comments section below this post!

WHAT TO BUY YOUR VEGAN GIRLFRIEND FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

At the Greater London Vegan Fair, I got chatting to a lovely customer about ideas of what to buy a vegan girl for Valentine’s Day and I came up with what I’m pretty sure is the perfect present for a vegan girl (hint hint Matt ;)). It’s a creative, vegan twist on traditional Valentine’s gifts; so, if you have a vegan partner and you’re looking to get her something super thoughtful this Valentine’s Day, then this post is for you!

STEP 1: BUY A VEGAN SLOGAN BAG

A vegan slogan bag makes the perfect wrapping for your Valentine’s Day gift, as it is also a great present in itself. There’s a whole range of awesome vegan totes and other bags out there to choose from, including my vegan bag collection which is available at: jadegreenvegan.com/tote-bags/

STEP 2: FILL IT WITH AWESOME VEGAN GOODIES

Once you’ve got your vegan bag, get ready to fill it with a whole range of vegan goodies, from food to fashion to thoughtful little extras!

CHOCOLATE & SWEETS

Everyone loves chocolate, and luckily there are now SO many amazing vegan chocolate brands out there, from the simple and sweet bars to extravagant gourmet boxes. In case you’re too spoilt for choice, some of my favourites are: Choices Dairy Free Caramel Chocolates, Vego Bars and iChoc White Nougat Bars! And, if you’re feeling super fancy, you can always treat her to a box of Booja-Booja truffles. There are also loads of great vegan sweets you can buy; my favourites are definitely the Biona Organic pomegranate hearts.

JEWELLERY

Etsy has a whole range of awesome vegan jewellery so you’ll be sure to find something to suit every style and price range. I have two beautiful vegan necklaces which would make great gifts, one by Skedaddle Ceramics (on the left) and the other by Love Libby X (on the right).

COSMETICS

Lush have a huge, clearly labelled vegan range so a fragrant Lush bath bomb would make an amazing addition to the goody bag. Or, if you know your girlfriends’ favourite cosmetics brands & products / are feeling very brave, then you could buy her some toiletries or makeup from companies she loves. Two of my favourite vegan cosmetics brands are ELF Cosmetics (which is super inexpensive) and Arbonne.

THOUGHTFUL EXTRAS

Some of my favourite gifts Matt has ever got me are donations to animal charities and animal sanctuary sponsorships. So, if you feel like giving an extra special gift this Valentine’s Day, make a donation to your partner’s favourite animal charity and print out a cute little card explaining what you’ve done to put in the bag.

Another great little present you could include is a pair of tickets to a vegan festival! There are vegan festivals across the entire UK now so it should be easy to find one near you; check out a comprehensive listing on the Vegfest website.

I hope this post gave you lots of gift ideas on how to spoil your vegan partner on Valentine’s Day. I know I would absolutely love any of these gifts, especially the animal sanctuary donation, so if she’s anything like me I’m sure your partner will love them too!

And, if your partner’s a guy, don’t worry – I’ve got you covered too! I’ve enlisted Matt’s help to create a guy version of this post, so look out for that in the next couple of days.

VEGAN IN MALVERN |GALLERY 36

Last weekend we had a stall at the West Midlands Vegan Festival for the Jade Green Vegan Compassionate Clothing Line. We had a great weekend meeting lots of lovely people, and it was made even better by the fact that we spent a day with Matt’s mum and dad on the way home as they live fairly near by in Malvern.

Matt’s mum and dad called lots of local restaurants to see if any of their menus could be veganised and  Gallery 36 was by far one of the most accommodating. Even though Gallery 36 isn’t a specifically vegetarian/vegan restaurant, they have lots of vegetarian options and were so helpful and really knowledgable in telling us which dishes could be made vegan.

image

I ordered the Vegetarian Platter (less halloumi and aioli, add extra falafel). The platter had a great variety of veggie dishes – I especially loved the falafel and stuffed vine leaves – and was served with a big rustic baguette making it super filling.

image

Matt went for the Veggie Breakfast (less the free range egg) – another very easily veganisable dish – and absolutely loved it!

image

So if you find yourself in Malvern, I’d definitely recommend visiting Gallery 36, and be sure to ask your waiter which dishes can be veganised as there were lots of others our waiter mentioned (including the patatas bravas and the vegetable bean chilli enchiladas)!

If you’d like to watch a vlog of our weekend at the festival and in Malvern, you can check that out here:
