You guys know from my previous review how much I love Bistro 1847. It’s a really cool vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Birmingham city centre with a chilled vibe and incredible food. As it is one of mine and Matt’s favourite places to eat out, after a long weekend of packing (*cough* procrastinating packing by watching The US Office – seriously though, I’m addicted) we decided to treat ourselves to one last meal there (it’s actually so awesome that we ended up going back again on Tuesday but that’s besides the point ;)).
We normally order our favourite battered tofu and chips which is absolutely delicious, but this past Sunday we decided to mix things up and try out the new menu. The result? Oh. My. Gosh. This meal turned out to be one of the best Sunday lunches I have ever eaten, and what Matt later proclaimed to be his favourite vegan meal yet! This food was seriously good. Oh and btw, did I mention that their presentation is majorly on point? It’s basically art on a plate and a party in your mouth.
On to the details of the menu ▷▻▷▻▷
For starter we had the polenta chips with oyster mushrooms and tomato relish. This combination is a match made in heaven and the only possible way it could be improved is by serving 5 plates full instead of one.
For main course, we had the spiced squash filo balotine with new potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and ale gravy. I absolutely loved this original twist on a traditional Sunday lunch, especially the veggies which were all cooked to perfection.
The entire dining experience, from the service to the food, was amazing as always; and I couldn’t recommend Bistro 1847 highly enough.
Where are some of your favourite vegan restaurants? Have any of you been to Bistro 1847 before? Also, is anyone else obsessed with The US Office?! Seriously though, Dwight is life. Hope you’re all having a wonderful week!
