Potato Tomato | Vegan in Whitstable Kent

Last week, my mum, Poppy, Panda and I visited Potato Tomato – an awesome little 100% vegan pop-up restaurant located in the Whitstable Harbour Markets on the Kent Coast.

Potato Tomato serves a great variety of homemade vegan food, both hot and cold. On top of having a delicious menu, its insanely cute beach hut location, reasonably priced menu and the fact that it’s dog-friendly makes Potato Tomato the perfect place to grab lunch on a beach day out.

My mum and I ordered two main meals to share: the double stack cheese burger and the cornish pie with chips. I’ve never tried a cornish pasty, but according to my mum the cornish pie tasted exactly like a traditional cornish pasty, which explains why Potato Tomato is so popular with vegans and non-vegans alike. During our visit, it was so great to hear people come over who are not vegan and say how much they love the food, a real testament to how creative and flavourful Potato Tomato’s menu is.

The burger was stacked full with delicious ingredients including not one but two burger patties, vegan cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and of course lots of sauce. I absolutely loved it, so much in fact that I kinda hoped my mum wouldn’t like it so that I could eat her half too but unfortunately for me she agreed that it was amazing!

For dessert we shared a heated chocolate orange brownie which had melted chocolate in the middle making it absolutely heavenly! We loved it so much that we bought four more to take away, as well as a piece of the lemon drizzle cake and a piece of banana, chocolate and nut cake. They were all so delicious and barely lasted a couple of days in our house!

After our visit to Potato Tomato, we spent the day chilling on the beach and walking around Whitstable Harbour Markets where we bought some art and also some veggie dog treats from The Whitstable Dog Company (which is opposite Potato Tomato)!

I vlogged our entire day at Whitstable beach, including our visit to Potato Tomato so if you’d like to see more behind the scenes, you can watch that here:

If you’re planning a trip to the Kent Coast, be sure to check out Potato Tomato for some delicious food, and all of the other awesome businesses in the Whitstable Harbour markets for a great day of beachside shopping!
